Serendipity National Barbie Doll Convention Live Auction Doll

I wanted to share with everyone some pictures of my entry for the live auction for this year's National Barbie Doll Convention in LA.

Serendipity is a production sample colour variation of the forthcoming Black Tie (#518) fashion. For any one going to the convention, I hope you'll take a peak at it, I'm very proud of it (it's my first re-paint). It comes on a custom 'red carpet' base and with an original sketch (not a copy), signed by myself. I hope it will appeal to a collector out there and that it will find a good home. The fashion features a fully lined silk column dress with multiple layers of hand beaded tulle framed in the back with a band of chocolate brown satin. The dress was inspired by a vintage piece by Charles James (though this one won't take up two seats at the Metropolitan Opera!) This is the first time (I think ever?) that a side zipper has been used for a 'Barbie' sized dress. It really 'makes' the outfit and is barely noticeable.

I wish I could be there, but Larissa and I will be in Disneyworld that week (Kathryn's first trip) and there is no getting a 6 yr old away from the Disney Princesses, not even Barbie! Our famed fashion photographer Barry Sturgill generously offered to be on hand at the auction preview to try to answer any questions about the doll "Thanks again Barry!" Until then if any one has any questions, please let me know through the blog or through my website.

Happy Bidding!
